About the Tax Shop
Tax Shop foundations
Graham Rawlinson set up the Tax Shop in Godalming in 2001, after he got fed up with commuting to London and decided that he wanted to offer tax advice closer to home.
Graham originally trained as an accountant with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells. He qualified in 1982 and specialised in taxation, obtaining his tax qualification in 1984. He subsequently worked in other London-based firms, acquiring an impressive range of knowledge.
Graham was also actively involved with the Thames Valley branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, helping with planning their lecture programme and organising residential conferences in association with a team of tax barristers.
Graham has a unique depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding in the field of taxation, and is one of the few tax practitioners outside London with experience in international personal tax. Through the Tax Shop he offers a full range of personal and business taxation services to a wide variety of clients; fixed rate self-assessment tax return completion is an integral part of his core business.
High Tech Tax
Graham’s interest in computing (since age 12!) means that he is an enthusiastic user of the latest available technology, which helps to facilitate his practice. He is very keen to roll this out to his clients and support them in using the latest accounting software.
Under the umbrella of the Tax Shop, Graham also provides services to start-up and small businesses. This includes company formations, company secretarial services, payroll, help with setting up banking services and registering for VAT and PAYE.
International – and local
Graham has clients all over the world, including the USA, Canada, New Zealand, China and the Philippines. However he is firmly grounded in the UK, and cares deeply about supporting local small and start-up businesses.
Graham is a man of many interests, including photography and wine; he is an accredited tutor with the Wine and Spirit Education Trust. He is about as far as you can get from being the traditional undead accountant so reviled by the Monty Python team!
